Located in the Gulf of Fernandez 120 miles west of Costa Rica, Guá-Si 'house beyond water' by its original name given by its indeginous inhabitants the Tun-Si tribe (part of the Bribri tribe), was discovered by the Spanish navigator Diego Fernandez and named Isla Nublar 'clouded island' by the cartographer Nicolas de Huelva in reference to the steam escaping from the volcano in the northwest part of the Island: the Mount Sibo.
