InGen started the Pachyderm Portfolio project at Lockwood estate, which consists of creating a miniature dog sized elephant using hormonal engineering to show the power of genetics and convince InGen’s investors to raises enough funds for the Jurassic Park project. The elephant is prone to infection and suffers depression, and dies shortly after.
